PIN for Xunlai
I was reading some moans about hackers, and this idea just popped into my head. What if there were an option to have a PIN code for the Xunlai agents?
It could act much like a bank PIN. You go up to the Xunlai, and instead of being able to go in directly, a dialogue box comes up asking for your PIN (I suppose it could be a second password if you preferred), you type it in, and if it's correct, you can access your storage.
Maybe this could be a second hurdle for hackers to jump if they're just out to steal items/gold? Also, while I'm on this train of thought, I heard about people's characters being deleted by hackers. A PIN/password for that too, instead of just entering their name?
I don't know the practicalities of putting any of these ideas into effect. I thought I'd put them down here and see what people think. If it could help, that would be great. I for one wouldn't mind the small inconvenience of inputting a PIN/password when accessing storage/deleting a character, if it means there's even less chance of a hacker being able to do so.

With the limited storage I'm constantly swapping with the Xunlai Agent and between characters.

even if you do add pins, people will still be able to hack into it. Hackers have programs that can see exactly what keys you type and knowing some people, they will put bank pin codes etc

It'll at least help the situation with some of the not-so-crafty hackers.
As far as switching characters to move stuff around, there's a way through that. The PIN can be used to unlock your storage. Once unlocked, it stays unlocked. When you want to lock it, you can just hit a 'lock' button until the next time you want to access it.

Too much hastle for the majority of players. If you don't want your account stolen, take precautions, all this will do is instil a false sense of security, don't you think the keyloggers won't just copy the PIN?...

In answer to the people who have mentioned keyloggers - avoiding keyloggers is common sense. As long as you have a decent firewall, keep your virus scanning software up-to-date, and take all the necessary precautions with downloading (and especially installing) files, you shouldn't have a problem with keyloggers.
In any case, there could always be an option to 'turn off' this extra security. It's not like it would have to be mandatory.

and if you fail to enter the PIN 3 times in a row you are disconected and your account password is reset and a new password is sent to your Email.
the PIN would have to be a mix of numbers and letters to make it harders

Runescape did something to eliminate the keylogger risk:
it is a keypad that is activated by mouse pointer, so you enter no keys. as a additional feature, after each key is pressed, the numbers shuffle to new locations on the pad

MS has something similar, and I think it'd be great if the PIN was implemented and the input was mandatory using a virtual keyboard (click the numbers/letters).
Definately a nice idea, and sure - make it optional. We'd have more fun laughing at the people who didn't use it when they post about their storage being cleared anyways, right?

Yes, Thats one thing Runescape, though being a debateably crappy game, did right. Maple Story has a similar system for logging in - But it isnt optional.
Its there if you want it, but not a mandatory protection, and You can always take it off (with a 7 day wait of course - long enough to recover the account from the person, it'd be useless if the person could just take it off then)

Unlike passwords for you account which can be retrieved, how exactly is somebody who forgot their pin for their storage account in game supposed to retrieve their pin if they forget it? Otherwise, tough luck, you are locked out of storage forever...
And if somebody has stolen your account with a keylogger, well there is already no hope left for you anyway.

long and tedious
if you are stupid enough to have your account stolen, you deserve to have your items stolen...
if you got key logged, they can know your pin any way

I'm terrified by the thought of someone hacking my account and thus losing so much time and effort, anything that reduces the threat from that is a good thing imo.

It seems that 2 out of 3 of people want it, and the other not wanting it. Some in the middle with an option to use it or not.
I would go in the middle with those few people. Yes, but with an option. I'm not too worried about being hacked, but I'm also not going to decline one more way to keep my stuff safe.
